SMALL BUSINESSES AT THE CP CENTER

The CP Center provides one of only two vendored self-employment training programs in the State of California, and the only program with a curriculum that teaches people with severe physical limitations how to start, structure, and run their own business. Below are some of the businesses our clients have started.

AVIS GREEN BOOKS: NEW AND USED BOOKS AND DVDS ON AMAZON.COM
AVIS GRAY, OWNER/AUTHOR
I sell new and used books and DVDs on Amazon.com. I also write and speak about how to communicate with people with disabilities. I like to give people information.

Go to Avis Green Books' page.

KING CAPS: CUSTOM BASEBALL CAPS AND WHEELCHAIR TIRE COVERS
CHRIS APODACA, OWNER

I create custom designs for baseball caps and wheelchair tire covers. I am proud to be a business owner like my father. Having my own business has given me a feeling of independence.

MONIQUE'S MAGNETS: MAGNETS, NOTECARDS, POETRY, AND ARTWORK
COMMUNICATION AT EASE: PRODUCTS FOR PEOPLE WITH SPEECH IMPAIRMENTS
MONIQUE HARRIS, OWNER

I am a graphic designer with an AA in Business. I own Monique's Magnets and Communication at Ease. Monique's Magnets offers my original magnets, notecards, poetry, and artwork. Communication at Ease offers communication boards and educational materials for people with speech impairments.

TYRONE COBB TEES: T-SHIRTS
TYRONE COBB, OWNER
I sell t-shirts and baseball caps with my sayings on them. I started this business through the Small Business Development Center, a day program at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Oakland. Everyone there supports me. My parents have a different view of me now that I was able to start my own business. It makes me feel a part of the working world, and I feel very good when I can help all kinds of people feel good about themselves. That is what Tyrone Cobb Tees is about... helping people feel good about themselves.
